It’s drawn from the French verb “appeler”, “to call (by a name)”, and the Latin “Appellare”, which means “to summon”.

Appellation was an idea formed from a love of the beautiful, mysterious aromas of the Middle East. The fragrant rituals of everyday life that bring families together, and the “Proustian moment”, the way a particular scent can evoke childhood memories.
