In this controlled lab study, participants were exposed to mandarin essential oil through inhalation while undergoing brainwave (EEG) monitoring and attention-based tasks. The results were both intriguing and encouraging: participants showed increased alpha and beta brain activity, which is associated with alertness, mental clarity, and cognitive performance—especially during tasks that require sustained attention.
But here’s where it gets interesting: even while supporting concentration, mandarin oil also showed calming properties, helping ease the transition into restful sleep for those experiencing mild sleep disturbances.
