As nature lovers, we are deeply concerned about the impact of our industry on the planet

We know our industry places a strain on natural resources and are committed to minimising our impact.

Examining our supply chain and questioning all aspects of our packaging and manufacturing processes is a continuous effort.

As a responsible business, we are proud to make conscious choices every step of the way

OUR PLEDGE

In 2023 we joined 1% for the planet, making a commitment to donate 1% of our annual revenue to organisations that are working to protect ecosystems and biodiversity

Today, our donations directly support the regeneration and cultivation of endangered and economically valuable tree species in the Peruvian Amazon.

OUR SOURCING

We prioritise sourcing essential oils from suppliers who share our commitment to quality, sustainability, and fair trade

We partner with FairWild-registered traders; female-founded or independent, family-owned growers and producers; and cooperatives in Nepal and Ecuador.

Our suppliers care deeply about the land and embrace sustainable, ethical agricultural practices. This includes organic, pesticide-free farming, biodiversity conservation, and traditional harvesting methods that honour both nature and community.

Sustainability and traceability are paramount when sourcing over-harvested or at-risk species

Our Frankincense (Boswellia sacra) is harvested using controlled, tribal methods in southern Oman.

Our Palo Santo (Bursera graveolens), is harvested exclusively from fallen trees in Ecuador, with proceeds reinvested into forest restoration and community education initiatives.

Our Somali Myrrh (Commiphora myrrha), used in The Tranquilist and The Quietude, is certified FairWild, a standard that ensures sustainable wild-harvesting and dignified livelihoods for harvesters and their families.

OUR PACKAGING

Designed with sustainability in mind, our packaging is recyclable, biodegradable, or reusable

Our signature, tactile paper packaging is 100% recycled, Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC)-certified, zero-emission, and biodegradable – sourced from a centuries-old paper mill in Italy. Our tissue paper is also FSC-certified and printed with soy-based ink, free from acid, sulphur, and lignin.

To protect the quality of our essential oils, we use biophotonic glass bottles.

This specialised glass protects oils from oxidation, preserving their integrity and extending their shelf life, naturally.

Our signature incense holder is made from date seeds

We partnered with DateForm, a material innovation startup, to create our signature date-seed incense holder, included in every box of Appellation incense.
