Appellation’s ultrasonic diffuser is a clever little device that uses water and electronic frequencies to transform essential oil into tiny micro-droplets. There’s a small disc in the base of the reservoir that silently vibrates, gently agitating the water and causing the oil to vaporise into a fine, aromatic mist. The mist then disperses through the air, filling a room, or any other space, with your desired aroma.

Unlike other forms of diffusion, an ultrasonic diffuser doesn’t require the use of heat, making it a safe way to disperse scent and preserving the integrity of the essential oils. Applying heat to an essential oil can alter its chemical composition and aroma, and negate the therapeutic benefits.

As an added bonus, these diffusers also require very little oil, making them a cost-effective solution.

As a general guide, we suggest using between 5-20 drops of essential oil.

Some oils require less and others more – for example, aromatic base note oils like myrrh, vetiver or patchouli require fewer drops while top note oils like citruses tend to evaporate faster. 

You may have to experiment a little to figure out what's right for you. 

Ultimately, the scent strength depends on the size of your space and your personal preferences.

To protect your diffuser and ensure the best performance, we recommend using only 100% essential oils.

Our diffusers are designed specifically for pure essential oils. Because perfume oils, fragrance oils, and other scented blends can vary greatly in their ingredients and texture, we cannot be certain how they may behave inside the diffuser or what effect they may have on its components over time.

Some oils may leave residue, clog the ultrasonic plate, or gradually contribute to wear that affects diffusion. For that reason, we do not recommend using them, and any resulting damage would not be covered under warranty.

For best results, use 100% essential oils and clean your diffuser regularly according to our care guidance.

Appellation’s stone diffuser has two settings. Press once for a 9-hour continuous setting, or twice for a 16-hour intermittent (20 seconds on, 20 seconds off) mist.

No, there’s no need – the diffuser automatically shuts off when the water level is too low. 

If you have little ones, opt for an ultrasonic diffuser with an intermittent setting in a reasonably ventilated space. Choose gentle organic essential oils such as lavender, cedarwood, or sweet orange and use fewer drops.

You can rest assured that Appellation’s blends are 100% pure, and all our oils are either wild-harvested (grown in the wild as nature intended) or certified organic.

This is especially important to highlight for those concerned about pesticides, as citrus oils are heavily sprayed.

Most diffuser faults we see tend to arise in one of two ways – either the diffuser has been knocked over, which can affect the internal wiring, or the ultrasonic plate has become worn over time.

The ultrasonic plate is the delicate circular component at the centre of the reservoir. It vibrates at high speed to disperse the water and essential oil blend. Because it is a sensitive working part, it can be affected by unsuitable substances or improper care.

To help protect your diffuser, we recommend using only 100% essential oils. Fragrance oils, perfume oils, abrasive detergents, and harsh cleaning products may damage the ultrasonic plate or other internal components. Regular cleaning is also important to maintain optimal performance.

As with any powered device, faults can occasionally occur over time, even with proper care.

Where possible, we may still be able to assist with repairs, replacement ultrasonic plates, diffuser bases, or ceramic shells, subject to availability. We also offer a repair service through our Dubai headquarters.

Our diffuser warranty applies for 12 months from the date of delivery for products purchased directly from Appellation.co.

It covers faults that occur under normal intended use. It does not cover faults or damage caused by accidental drops, the diffuser being knocked over, use with unsuitable oils, improper cleaning, abrasive cleaning products, neglect, misuse, modification, or general wear and tear.

To help maintain performance and avoid unnecessary damage, we recommend using only 100% essential oils in your diffuser and cleaning it regularly in line with our care guidance.

Where an issue falls outside the warranty period or our standard terms, we may still be able to help you troubleshoot remotely, or assist with repairs, replacement ultrasonic plates, diffuser bases, or ceramic shells, subject to availability.
