Are all “lavender” essential oils the same?

No. Lavender is a common name that applies to multiple species. For example, Lavandula angustifolia and Lavandula latifolia differ significantly in aroma and chemistry. Without the Latin name on the bottle, it’s impossible to know exactly what you are buying.

Appellation always lists the full botanical name so you can be confident in the oil’s identity and intended use.
